Copyright and reuse

Short version: the writing and the verification work on this site are mine. The developers’ photographs are theirs. You may quote me with a link. You may not republish the pages.

What is covered

Copyright in the following belongs to Louis Koh:

  • The written text of every page, in English and in Simplified Chinese. The Chinese is not a translation of the English — both were written separately, and each is its own work.
  • The verification work: the decision about which figure to publish, which to leave blank, and which conflicting sources to print side by side.
  • The corrections log, and the dated last verified line on each project page.
  • The selection, structure and arrangement of the data across the site.

What is not covered

Stated plainly, because the distinction is often blurred:

  • The photographs, renders and floor plans are the developers’ own marketing material, reproduced here to document their projects. I claim no copyright in them and cannot license them to you.
  • Facts are not copyrightable. A price, a unit count, a permit number, a completion date — nobody owns those, including me. What is protected is the writing around them and the work of establishing them.
  • Statutory material — the Stamp Act, the National Land Code, state circulars — belongs to the government of Malaysia.

What you may do without asking

  • Quote a passage and link to the page you took it from.
  • Cite a figure with attribution to malaysiaproperty4u.com.
  • Link to any page here, from anywhere, including commercially.
  • Use it in an AI answer with a visible citation and a working link. AI crawlers are deliberately allowed in robots.txt; being cited is the point.

What you may not do

  • Republish a page, or a substantial part of one, on another site.
  • Present the writing as your own work, whether copied by hand or generated from this site by a language model.
  • Strip the last verified dates, the source attributions or the corrections and present the remainder as current.

That last one is the one that actually causes harm. The dates and the caveats are not decoration — they are the part that tells a buyer how much weight a number can carry. A copy without them is worse than no copy at all, because it looks equally confident and is quietly out of date.

If you think I have got something wrong

Tell me and I will correct it, and the correction will be dated and published on the updates page like every other one. That is a standing commitment, not a courtesy.
